Program Content
When contracted to provide expert witness testimony, CPAs need to do more than deliver their findings. Persuasive engagement techniques are critical for success. Great communicators can draw inspiration from professional actors. Performers know how to frame their content, choose the appropriate role, manage anxiety, dress the part, identify an intention and deliver it through a role. Trained performers are masters of emotional persuasion. Draw upon the communication skills used by performers to influence the judge and jury. Becoming a successful expert witness results in a lucrative business, both from your current clients, as well as opposing counsel.

This course covers communication skills specific to testifying on the stand, from the way to frame content, to posture, gestures and clothing choices. Deborah and David will share techniques for how to be the most persuasive and influence the court to your point of view. They will give examples of how to identify and achieve your intention. They will also discuss how to select the appropriate role, whether it be trusted advisor, motivator or expert. Most professionals spend the majority of their prep time researching and preparing their content to be presented. Deborah and David will demonstrate the critical importance of delivery skills and rehearsal to reinforce your content.
