How to Effectively Complete Your CVA/AVA Case Study in 60 Days

Program Focus

This course is designed to assist practitioners to effectively complete their CVA/AVA case study in 60 days. The webinar is intended to be a nexus between FT&T coursework and successful completion of the take-home case study. Topics covered include:

  • Industry and economic research: resources and tools
  • Guideline company research: resources and metrics to utilize
  • Transaction Approach: resources and an overview of what was transacted (i.e., asset or equity transactions)
  • Report writing fundamentals: how much documentation is enough?

This webinar will be particularly beneficial because it will go beyond the scope of FT&T, which is broadly focused on the theoretical interpretations of valuations, and clear up any questions about what is expected to be included in a properly prepared valuation report.

What You Will Learn

  • What steps should be taken in writing a valuation report
  • Where you get the required information
  • Depending on what are you valuing, what metric should be used in the valuation of the company/interest being valued. Various approaches will be considered, including debt-free and matching of capitalization rate with proper earning power
  • What normalizing adjustments should be made (i.e., marketability and minority interest discounts). Where to obtain the information and how to interpret it
  • How to synthesize the information into the report and how to document the information so that it meets reporting standards
